Very disappointing on first pass. The rules left a lot to question. With some games, it comes together nonetheless once you begin playing. With this expansion, the longer I played, the more questions I had. I thought that several of those questions could have been addressed rather easily in the rule book if the rules were longer than a very brief two pages.

Tough on the Necromancer. Small World is great and Vinci isn't because in Small World, it's never entirely clear who is winning. The players can pretty much see exactly how close the Necromancer player is, though, by looking at his stack of counters, and beating him up whenever he gets close - not a lot he can do about that. So Vinci's fatal flaw rears its ugly head again. But still ... The Necromancer does make for a fun and particularly bloody game, and he's in a different, interesting, and fun position. He almost certainly won't win, but at least it's fun to play.

And as the Necromancer controls territories, he gets more power to generate more units. But by focusing on just the necromancer, you leave the field open to other players...
