Very disappointing on first pass. The rules left a lot to question. With some games, it comes together nonetheless once you begin playing. With this expansion, the longer I played, the more questions I had. I thought that several of those questions could have been addressed rather easily in the rule book if the rules were longer than a very brief two pages.

It's a neat variant. The biggest problem with it is that you should be familiar with the normal rules of Small World before using this expansion. I also don't feel comfortable teaching this expansion to others that have not played Small World yet.
