Small City Deluxe Edition (Kickstarter – The Mayor Pledge)
60m - 180m
1 - 4 Players
Ages 14+
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.
Tile Placement
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Status: Sleeved and organised in a GMT counter tray and a few baggies. Have made the Winter Expansion box into a tile holder by cutting up a bit of cardboard and splitting the box into sections. Hmm, I remember enjoying the other version of Small CIty a lot more, but I did play it a long time ago. I will say that the original version's board and components were so much clearer and easier to read than the Deluxe Edition. I felt like I was misreading/misunderstanding a lot as I played through the Deluxe Edition. A fun game, but it is difficult to recommend the Deluxe Edition given the rules aren't great (an entire deck of cards has no explanation for their effects, as an example), and given I'm a bit of a stickler when it comes to how easy the board state and component effects are to read, I have to say it's not grand. I'd love to have a copy of the original, and while I do still like the Deluxe Edition, I don't know if I'll care to play it given it's not accessible enough for me. If you aren't blind as a bat? You'll enjoy this more than me!

Good game but for a deluxe second edition, surprised at the printing errors, cheap feeling cardboard and cardstock and laughable box insert. But the colours are vibrant and look good on the table. The gameplay is very good. Quite thinky with a surprising amount of interactivity, to the point of unexpected level of good meaning meanness! I enjoyed it. Not perfect but very good game. Looking forward to more plays.

:star::star::star::star::star::nostar: - Very good! Strong desire to play again! Only played a couple of solo games, but it was really fun puzzling out how to build out your city. I would love to try this with multiple players (feels like it would be really good as a 3-player game).
