The Campaign/Battle Card Driven mechanic is a relatively recent development in war games that focuses the players' actions on cards they have in their hand. The very basic idea is that performing a single action uses a single card. Games where cards are used to determine the outcome of battles do not use this mechanic.

Solid game but nothing extraordinary. I also own Ashes Reborn with the Red Rain expansion and consider that the better game.

For me, this game is a solo experience of a simple MtG game with preconstructed decks. I got the hang of the game in about 10 plays and enjoyed it, but later I had no incentive to play it any more. + the card quality is very good + the games are fast + some mechanics are interesting, particularly yellow cards - yellow cards are AN EXPANSION! - quite expensive for what you get - lacks originality in design and mechanics... quite generic. - rules are not very clear. I found myself guessing often. - deck construction (with expansion!) is very limited and often obvious. - the wins feel underwhelming and the losses feel undeserving, but I think it is because of the solo nature of the game.

A sort of lane battler/tower defense game with gameplay that feels bit more staid than I expected. Solo works fine. Coop may actually be its best mode, as that will allow for some more card combos to actually occur. Overall, decent with perhaps too much focus on basic questions relating to card advantage.
