This is my favorite trading and negotiation game. It's fun, it's reasonable to teach given the amount of stuff going on, and it's completely unique!

Sidereal Confluence is rather a strange game. It is highly interactive (if you don’t trade you will do abysmally) and at the same time you don’t really notice what the other players are doing at all so in that sense it is multi-player solitaire. It is also somewhat of a sprawling mess yet you can see the tight and intelligent design behind it. It is not a complex game to play yet it is overwhelming. It is unique but there is nothing particularly new about it. I enjoyed it but at the same time disliked it. It’s probably not my type of game and yet it could be - if I could be bothered to put the time and effort in to understand it’s subtleties. i.e. it is full of contradictions

80% trading and 20% engine building. Although this plays up to 9, I wouldn't want to go past 5. The resource conversion engines are complicated and physically sprawling, and with more people it's just too much time and hassle to pay attention to what their engines are doing which means you're not getting a sense of what a trade is worth to them. If you're not gauging relative worth of trades, then you're not really playing the game with any depth. If you want a long negotiation game with many moving parts, look no further.
