Goodness gracious. This took over three hours and for what? It's extremely basic area control paired with a question system where you guess at which answer gets you the resources and ideologue cards you need. There's a ton of take-that that isn't particularly interesting, and the back and forth on evicting or discarding an opponent's majorities makes the whole game take forever - and honestly, feel very arbitrary. There's some Catan vibes as well, with resource trading and events, though the events were more random and it didn't often seem sensible to trade. Catan also has a great pacing this game totally lacks. One of the only times I've felt just totally bored and unengaged during an area control game.

Great production, but the modular idea is just bad. Each of these conflicts should be its own game, with its own map, art, and history. The modularity of the game downplays the history and gravity of these events. Additionally, there is a lot of gameplay heavily dependent on a player's pop culture political knowledge. You'll know if your ideology aligns with the suite you're going for if you are liberal. I've played this with both camps, and the conservatives always do way worse, as they can't quite tell when something is nationalist/ totalitarian/ democratic. Their perspective is different.

2021-10-06 - 6/10 - it's an interesting take on area control + politics. Answering the questions on the cards might be interesting, but sometimes the cards were very obvious or just coarse. For the area control part - it takes very long. We started on an empty map and I think it's not a good idea ever - it is probably much better to start with some scenario. Which we will do if the game hits the table again.
