Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.
Take That
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Played at Berlin Brettspiel Con: Streamlined rules, fast gameplay, extremely thematic with gorgeous components and great funny references to the Berlin lifestyle. We couldn't stop laughing when playing this game making up our own stories about our little shops. The components are insane, when picking up the sugar cubes we instinctively tried to clean out hands afterwards even though we knew they were fake! Very clever engine building game with an absurd amount of content which makes it very replayable! Only downside were the large amount of icons, additional cheat sheets or references are recommended but once you get into it it makes a lot if sense & it goes very fast. Absolute recommendation :) Can't wait for my pre-order!

First play impression - solo play. Played against the AI. Absolutely crushed it, but I was playing on minimum difficulty. I will increase difficulty in the future and check to make sure I was playing all rules correctly. Overall, fun time with interesting combos. I did spend a good amount of time looking up symbols and it's easy to get confused between some of them. I wish there was helper text to help make sure you're interpreting the symbols correctly. I need more plays to figure out how I actually feel about the game, including multi-player plays. Has a very classic engine-builder feel, with actions getting way stronger as the game progresses.

This is something of a unique "deck builder" where the cards come out in a specific order and players need to improve their coffee shop to better serve all their customers. Getting a bad review or angry customer is not necessarily the end of the world if it allows the player to do something meaningful early in the game, and those bad reviews can be expunged if the correct customers are served. There does appear to be a couple of possible strategies but players will likely need to have the majority of group icons for at least a couple of the customer groups that are in the game to have a good chance at victory. I will say that set up and cleanup is pretty involved/daunting but if everyone gets involved it doesn't have to be as bad, but it's still significant:)
