Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

A very fun and light deck building/worker placement game. Really it's less about those mechanics and more about blowing holes in each other's ships. Reason it's not rated higher is because of the not so good rule book. Also, I think it needs an expansion to add a bit more replayability.

Good chaotic fun. Chess this is not, but but still a little some strategy. Would rate higher, but the rule book SUCKS

I love the fact that this game encourages players to be aggressive and dive into confrontations in order to score infamy to keep up. Love the way the the two phases interact with each other and allow for players to set up for big plays out on the sea phase. The huge number of different captains and ships helps create a variety of play options. The theme really shines thanks to the fantastic production value and art work as well as the games mechanics. So glad I backed this one, it’s blast!
