A great addition to an already great game. New factions feel totally different than core factions again and it let you play in 6 people.

UPDATE 6/22: just bringing it in line with my raising of this game's rating generally. Otters are best and i will engage in pugilism for actual if you suggest otherwise but i've actually grown to love the Lizard Cult. they're so strange and unwieldy but here's the thing: once the social aspect of this game develops as i mentioned in my comments for the base game, Lizards get cool. you can bribe or extort people in an effort to influence discards and what suit is deemed Outcast, especially if the board needs policing and you're just the reptile to do it. here's your badge and your gun back, Detective Iguana! you're back on the force! it does retain its lower rating than most of the other Root offerings though because i think it simply isn't as vital to the game. don't get me wrong, it's fantastic. if you're into Root, you'll eventually want this expansion but The Exiles & Partisans Deck makes crafting great and dynamic while introducing cards that really play into the theme and flavor of the world, The Marauder Expansion flat out improves setup which was previously a kind of not great part of the game while introducing two really fun "big" factions, and The Underworld Expansion gives you two new MAPS which is a major content update as well as two fantastically fun factions to play. The Riverfolk Expansion really just gives you two smaller factions and some new Vagabonds. it just doesn't feel as critical an upgrade to the game if you're trying to decide which parts of the game to prioritize. i still love it, though. always, always for the dragon god may he reign eternal.
