Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.
Variable Player Powers
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

I backed this impulsively during the last hours of the KS campaign and I regretted it initially because the game, though pretty, seemed like just a derivative "dice placement" game à la Alien Frontiers. After playing it, I have to say it's pretty good! I like how a high reputation allows you to use more of your dice, but the best way to get points (the council) forces you to lose reputation. So it's a nice balancing act. The game does suffer from some "Kickstarter syndrome": underdeveloped gameplay, poorly laid-out rulebook, lackluster 2-player variant, and (by far the biggest problem) the game is just way, WAY too long. A more experienced publisher would have made sure to cut the game by 30 minutes or more. Thankfully, we decided to end two rounds early even before our first play, which we'll continue to do in the future. Art and board are fantastic, the dice look great.

Another Final Frontier game since Cavern Tavern earlier, also is a dice placement game. We played a 5 player game and took us about 2.5 hour to complete a short variant game (including counter checking rules book and some AP) This game is a resources management game and able to get score using few methods. Charming design however TBH nothing is new. Basically I felt played Marco Polo and Puerto Rico with some other mechanism. However. Its a charming game that worth another go and it comes with some plastic tray that helps in setting up and tearing down the game. Good one! https://www.instagram.com/p/BlYUXcEhFfO/?taken-by=boardgamer.my

The Mico art drew me in for an auto-back, now I’ve learned my lesson. This game is such a slow climb that it is over before you can get going. It feels like you have to put in double work to get any results. The mechanisms lead you to specialize so narrowly that you don’t have time to do anything else.
