Ride the Rails

This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.

Nice amount of depth for the few rules it has. I can see this get played often because it's so light on rules. On the other hand it's also nothing that remarkable.

The game was fine, will play again on other maps. The problem is that it gets tedious to count a 21 link delivery of a passenger (to me) and then rinse and repeat for the other 3 players. The other issue I had is that it was nigh impossible to change scoring position after round 2. My wife picked one train company that no one else did, and she basically got no points in round 1 and never could catch up. I had a huge lead after round 2 because I picked up an extra share of the color everyone else (including me) had built in the first one, which gave me double payout when someone used it (which almost everyone did). We ended up calling it a round before the end of the game.

It's like the rail building and cube delivery portion of Age Of Steam, minus everything else. It's 100% open information and math. Moving the passengers can be a little fiddly to track but necessary. Enjoyable but not the type of train game that I would normally default to, although it has merits for its simplicity and accessibility. Super nice production, graphic design, and an excellent price point. The variants on different maps also harkens back to Age Of Steam.
