Ride the Rails
45m - 60m
2 - 5 Players
Ages 12+
This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.

A fun shared incentives game, as long as someone else is doing the end of round scoring calculations. Might be a bit samey on subsequent plays, when compared to other cube rails games.

It's like the rail building and cube delivery portion of Age Of Steam, minus everything else. It's 100% open information and math. Moving the passengers can be a little fiddly to track but necessary. Enjoyable but not the type of train game that I would normally default to, although it has merits for its simplicity and accessibility. Super nice production, graphic design, and an excellent price point. The variants on different maps also harkens back to Age Of Steam.
Andy Parsons
One of those Winsome designs that strips the train game down to its barest essentials. Six times everyone chooses a share, places five sections of track, then transports one passenger, trying to make the greatest use of networks they have shares in. The network building and passenger moving are pretty straightforward; the choice of shares is where the critical decisions lie. One misjudgment and you’ve lost. As you might expect, Ride the Rails plays fast and smooth. That’s except for the mathy scoring. It’s an OK game, I just wish there were a bit more meat on these bones. I am a fan of Ian O’Toole’s artwork for Capstone’s Iron Rail series and this box lid is the pick of the bunch. The map is rather drab, though functional. There are some good player aids around its edges. However, there are some peculiar colour choices. Was it necessary to have player colours in two shades of pink and a third identical to one of the companies? Production quality is decent.
