I have never, ever rated a game this low, as to date...I tend to be a person who rates games on the positive end. I know this game has a lot of positive reviews, and it could be a personal experience, but since reviews are based on personal gameplay, I feel I have to share our experience....My husband & I played this game. We both read the instruction manual, tried to scour it for information, and watched two online videos, one from the publisher. It is incredibly confusing in places to us, to the point that we got to where we despised the whole experience after we were done! I was absolutely thrilled for this game. We are both in love with fairy tales and especially adore Robin Hood. This game sounded so creative and like an innovative, refreshing spin on the original. So far as the "cooperative" aspect, between going back and forth between the rules, constantly losing in battles and losing all of our one decent stat (whether it be brawns or wit), I wouldn't consider the game cooperative. The interaction is minimal and usually unhappy. XD E.g., "Oh look....I tried my best and lost this fight again and no your turn is going to be rotten." During the grand finale battle, we were expecting what Merry Men/Women we had been able to recruit to be of big help. They weren't. They give you a little extra "jolly" to your stats. We both needed a LOT of extra jolly by that point in the game. It is also confusing that the 10's column is on the left instead of the right side of the 1's. My husband mentioned disliking that and I realized it was an awkward system. The inner teacher in me cringed to think of trying to teach that system to a kid. ...The two-player "helps" are not enough to balance only having two players to fight in all the rounds, in my opinion. ....And a few minor points that are my opinion rather than about the gameplay. I really don't like a couple of the things we drew for myself, much less for children, to be members of my merry band. One is of an anthropomorphic, very cruel-looking cat with an anthropomorphic rat caught by the tail in its mouth and looking terrified. I found it distressing. But even worse, I got stuck with a card where this guy is holding a carrot in one hand and a stick in the other. I get the reference, but he literally looks like he is waiting to lure an animal over to beat over the head with the stick. The blurb about his character in the manual tells that he defends his garden vigilantly from squirrels and caterpillars. He's a very stern looking man and, fittingly, has -1 jolly he contributes. It was very unpleasant to me. This is all said with total acknowledgement that most people aren't sensitive to that kind of thing. But it wasn't necessary to be in there and it brought stress and bad memories to mind rather than the joyous experience I had hoped this game to be. I wouldn't recommend this game at all, but that is our perspective only. I know others really like it. :)

"Solid well-themed co-op with push-your-luck and light deckbuilding. Runs a bit long at higher counts." What I like: - Fun theme, with lots of unique cards - Good graphic design - Some opportunities to directly help other players - Pretty good variability What I don't like: - Can run long (90-120 minutes at 4 players) - The push-your-luck bets are big, so can be a bit punishing if you bust It seems to be relatively easy to "win" by rescuing Robin Hood, but relatively difficult to pull off a full win by also defeating the Sheriff of Nottingham.
