I'm not a big Lehmann fan, but this one is not as fiddly as I expected. Very good length, almost too short, really. My only issue is that you have to study your deck and mage before you can even begin.

Seems fairly tight. The closed engine can be a little restrictive and you're really relying on the synergy of the dealt cards. This could be improved by a draft or dealing 12 cards and the players picking 8. But it was fun to play.

+ [boardgameexpansion=288168][/boardgameexpansion] + [boardgameexpansion=340375][/boardgameexpansion] The more I've played this, the more I like it. I feel like both of the expansions are straight up improvements of the game, and they all fit perfectly in the main box. Drafting really elevates the game, allowing people to have a little more control over the engine they will try to build, and the game still has the frantic pace of Race for the Galaxy, but with very different mechanics. I feel like the production and presentation are great, albeit somewhat generic in style. There's lots of fun detail hidden in all of the artifacts, and the Places of Power really stand out as oversized cardboard tiles. EDIT: Bumped this up to a 10, after getting to play it multiple times with the drafting variant. With the draft, this is such an amazingly satisfying game. The more you understand the game and card synergies, the more fun the drafting phase becomes. A drafted deck, along with your chosen mage and the places of power available, can build much more satisfying turns than the random deal.
