I'm a big fan of abstract games, but Power Plants really misses the mark. Some of the best aspects of abstract games are their simplicity and elegance. Power Plants is neither of those. The plant powers are far too complex and fiddly, and a large part of the game involves players staring at the player-aid trying to remember and figure out what the various plants do. There are some good ideas in Power Plants, but the execution is lacking.

Kickstarted it. It has very nice wooden plant patch tiles, and the rule book is well put together, but it's merely an ok game where the expansion plants didn't really make things better, so sold it.

This game is okay. I thought I'd like it more. There are so many different powers, it's hard to remember all of them in between sessions. Even after 25 plays I don't feel familiar with the game, and I personally don't like that in a game.
