Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
The simultaneous action selection mechanic lets players secretly choose their actions. After they are revealed, the actions resolve following the rule-set of the game.
Simultaneous Action Selection
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.
Tile Placement
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Played on BGA. Fun game, for sure. Definitely need to prepare for analysis paralysis from some players. Played a game with a player who had 15-20 minutes more game time then the next. But honestly, a great game. I have only played on the most basic version (no objectives, events, or the extra map layout.) I think sometimes you can get screwed over with the neighbour objectives. (I.e., have the largest continuous water area on the left, but on the right is have the fewest water tiles.) I think if I played this in person, I would probably make sure things like that doesn't happen, so everyone can compete for both. I also think there are some neat strategies you can do, pushing certain tracks over others. However, all are sort of important.

a very fun game but may get samey after enough plays and the lazy suzan is mostly a gimmick that doesnt add a whole lot to the game.. If anything it just makes it feel random when its not your turn since the active player will just take what they want and everyone else is randomly assigned options.
