Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
The simultaneous action selection mechanic lets players secretly choose their actions. After they are revealed, the actions resolve following the rule-set of the game.
Simultaneous Action Selection
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.
Tile Placement
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

A bit better than expected - a very nicely intuitive Kennerspiel, that I will usually be willing to play. Some things seem extraneous, like the events, but the core gameplay is solid even with limited interaction. The advanced planets and corps will keep this fresh for a good while, I expect.

Quick polyomino game where players try to advance on different tracks which continously unlocks boni. The game ends if a player cannot put down a piece or all pieces are used. I like: + Components: lazy S.U.S.A.N. wheel + Variety: many different cooperations with differents tracks and different planets. There are also optional modules (e. g., event deck). + Each cooperation has unique tracks and unique abilities (must be unlocked by advancing on the tracks). + Simple drafting: you spin the wheel and pick one of two pieces in front of you. + Supports a wide range of players. + Easy to teach. + Scales well with all player counts (every player does something even on another player's turn. + Plays quite quickly / smoothly. Neutrals: # Rather abstract game. # Cardboard for the planets are rather thin. # Solo mode is supposed to be very popular. I do not like: - Rules do not provide much details or explanation for specific planets or cooperations.

Very pleasant polyomino game with multiple tracks to move up which trigger bonuses at various points.
