Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Don't be fooled by the small box and "simple" rules. This could be a filler game if both players are familiar with it, but otherwise expect a tense, brow furrowing battle. DO NOT PLAY IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH DECISION PARALYSIS.

2019-05: I really appreciate the level of variety and tactics that the game offers, but at the same time I feel like the cards offer too much variety and it is hard to keep track of everything. If I played it several more times the card rules overhead might lessen but as it stands it just feels like there are too many options to play the game casually.

1st Play: There is a ton of text on these cards, the system is complicated with the 3 phases and the 3 rows with orders cards and for a system this complicated, to have your options completely determined by which cards you draw makes the game pretty random. The characters aren't very compelling either. 2nd Play: The card tactics are still very random, and while the game is ok, there's nothing about it that draws me back in.
