The simultaneous action selection mechanic lets players secretly choose their actions. After they are revealed, the actions resolve following the rule-set of the game.
Simultaneous Action Selection
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.
Variable Player Powers
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

It's definitely an interesting concept - using real-world time as a resource to manage. But in actual gameplay I found this underwhelming, particularly compared to the hype. The characters and action choices felt reminiscent of The Lords of Waterdeep, but that game is easier to pick up and to play. One nice bonus of using real-world time is that the playing time is super accurate! No slow down for players with analysis paralysis.

May 2022 Traded to BoardGameCo for 9 points February 2021 First play went really great. I played it 2 player with my wife and we did not play it as a real time game. The game intrigues me as a hybrid of real time. I don’t like real time games all that much normally and may never play it as such. The game flows good and either one or the other was excited to get the benefits that would occur in a few. I felt Tzolkin was a game this should be in the same ballpark. My wife would prefer this one she said where I was probably a little more into Tzolkin, but would not turn a game of this down. I think the buzz is the reason for the low score. It probably doesn’t live up to whatever hype it had, but deserves to rated higher than a 6.7 its at right now. If I had a complaint it was the colors used and the intensity of the color choices. But I was the only one to complain at the table. February 2021 Getting From BoardGameCo Traded value $16 to $23 part of what I got for Lorenzo

Three timers determine when sets of worker actions become available, and don't actually pressure the players too much. Cool idea, but not intuitive and takes some getting used to the fluidity. Kinizia scoring. Takes longer to learn to play than to play. Best with exactly 3 players.
