apatheticape
Solid VP-based game that feels like area control but a bit too crunchy in the second half resulting in slower, draggier turns. Satisfying puzzle but also a bit dry and I didn't like that the game finishes out with a whimper (with many players grabbing end game tokens that trigger the finish because they had nothing left they could do). The game does have the elegance though of being a very simple teach and simple turns.

This game was on my radar for a little while and I have heard some good feedback on it. However, I was a bit hesitant as I am known to put a lot of stock in thematic integration and this game is the perfect example of a painted on theme. We played a 3 player game and I can definitely say the game is mechanically solid.... but not for me. All the elements of the game are very well done, but the lack of thematic integration is what is missing for me. I would definitely play it again, but I would not be the one suggesting it.

Very interesting flow for the game, with meaningful decisions. But it never got "fun." 2P was so much strategy and planning, and you really can't tell WHEN you will need the money, resources, and stars on the first play.
