After one game, my impressions are more than positive. Players were a bit lacking (we played for 2) but the "dumpy player" worked quite well.
Pascalculate
- The AP system isn't enough for twelve rounds. I think the actions are abit too slow and the points divided between factions are not balanced enough. Cost of using and evolving are pretty finnicky. Just some basic modifiers. Overall it's just basic surprise trap cards involving removal of pawns. - The movement in this game is VERY slow compared to the rate of spawning. Moving vertically is hard, while moving horizontally are easy. The (0;1;2) zone are introduced just for the sake of being complicated. The game feels like a set of rules that feels too out of place and the cataclysm mechanism feels boring to the good old Dominant Species cards. - The art is fine, the components are of good quality, but i don't think it's enough. The game was reported with a lot of missing components.
Bad Thoughts
The game played well in our 1st 2-player session. The automa were quick to resolve--probably one of the lowest maintenance AI/dummy players I've encountered. Some of the rules needed more clarification, of course. The first turns were a little slow, but things picked up very quickly after the first turn of the ages. I suspect that things will be better once we are more familiar with the adaptations and evolutions. Good asymmetry.
