Based on 1 play of 2-player. Game feels like it has a lot of depths and would love to get a 4-player going soon.
Pascalculate
- The AP system isn't enough for twelve rounds. I think the actions are abit too slow and the points divided between factions are not balanced enough. Cost of using and evolving are pretty finnicky. Just some basic modifiers. Overall it's just basic surprise trap cards involving removal of pawns. - The movement in this game is VERY slow compared to the rate of spawning. Moving vertically is hard, while moving horizontally are easy. The (0;1;2) zone are introduced just for the sake of being complicated. The game feels like a set of rules that feels too out of place and the cataclysm mechanism feels boring to the good old Dominant Species cards. - The art is fine, the components are of good quality, but i don't think it's enough. The game was reported with a lot of missing components.

Initial impression rating after playing 1/3 of a game at Essen 2019 as the Invertebrates (and won). I am a total sucker of Ecology/Biology/Geology-themed games, so of course I liked it. It felt like Dominant Species with some extra thematic and gameplay elements. It really felt I am playing invertebrates, the species-specific evolution cards are just amazing. A matter of personal taste, but I think the super-deluxe version with all the sculpts is not worth it, those sculpts are just too much and too big, they visually suppress other (more important) components of the game. Probably the best deal is the 'normal deluxe' version. The little resin tokens are really nice.
