"Rising Tide" must be Dutch for "Snowball Effect." An interesting take on pandemic, where outbreaks constantly happen and require careful management. And, like all elegant solutions, careful management is very fragile and prone to sudden and inevitable betrayal. There's more depth here than with regular pandemic, as long-term elements (ports and pumping stations) are available from Turn 1, and also with how the removal of dikes is quite meaningful later in the game. The unfortunate part is that new players won't know which dikes are "better" or "safer" to remove, and the rules do have a typo about water flowing. That being said, this was an interesting game and I would play it again, but the complexity takes it beyond an entry level game and that means I don't need to own it, as I have other not-quite-entry-level games I would rather play. It's also very fiddly, with windmills always removing a cube but water always pushing out more cubes.

Boa,... das hätte ich nicht erwartet! Gekauft weil Pandemic auf der Schachtel stand. Bekommen haben wir dann tatsächlich Pandemic und doch eigentlich ein völlig Eigenständiges Spiel. Die Grundmechaniken aus Pandemie sind klar wieder zu erkennen, wurden aber für das Thema leicht angepasst. Gemeinsam versuchen wir zu verhindern dass die Niederlande nicht im Wasser versinkt. Dabei sind die Würfel nun keine Epedemien/Krankheiten mehr sonder Wasser. Liegen drei dieser Würfel in einer Region und sollte ein dritter hinzukommen (wie beim original) kommt es zur Überflutung - Randgebiete bekommen alle einen Würfel. Dies kann verhindert werden in dem wir als Aktion Dämme zwischen den Gebieten bauen. Der Infektionsstapel ist nun der "Deichbruchstapel". Für jede gezogene Karte muss ein Deich in der gezogenen Region brechen - kann kein Deich brechen läuft Wasser rein (ein Würfel wird stattdessen platziert). Ziel ist es Pumpwerke zu errichten (Abgabe von 5 Karten der jeweiligen Farbe). Können keine Karten nachgezogen oder Wasserwürfel platziert werden, verliert man das Spiel. Für mich steht jetzt schon nach einer Partie fest dass es eines der besten Spiele ist die es schaffen die Mechanik so eng mit dem Thema zu verknüpfen. Selten ein Spiel gespielt was sich so Rund angefühlt hat.
