Basically, it's all about what you do in the first few moves. Get that right and you are probably going to win. get that wrong and it will snowball against you. Pandemic is ok, but I am a bit bemused by the clamour about it. I'd much rather play Yggdrasil.

This game has to be played on a binge. If you're only going to play once every 4 weeks or less, you'll probably be better off just playing regular Pandemic.

POTENTIAL MINOR SPOILERS Final Thoughts : This was a fun experience and I'm glad I played it. The story, while cliched and very minimal, was good enough, but not amazing. I think board games still have a ways to go with telling stories (other than Sherlock Holmes, Consulting Detective and the like which are not really board games in my opinion). I enjoyed most of the added mechanics, except I wasn't too enamoured with searches (although they fit perfectly with the story). The levelling up of characters and cards was great. We made quite a few rules mistakes, which was frustrating. The game wasn't complex, but the constantly shifting mechanics, etc meant that rules goofs are more likely to happen. On top of that, we obviously couldn't look ahead online for new rules because of spoilers. The ending was pretty anti-climatic. The main issue I have with this is the same as regular Pandemic : Sometimes the game is too easy/hard based solely on the order the cards come out. Games rarely came down to the wire unfortunately.
