Two plays in and so far, so good. To make the most of the game, I am writing session reports about each of our plays. You can read them here. WARNING: Those reports are heavy on spoilers. So far, it feels like base game Pandemic, but even within the first game it began to feel like a different beast. Just knowing that decisions you make in one game will have lasting repercussions changes the way you think about and play the game. I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next!

This game starts okay, gets great, and then ends stale. Because my group was left with no desire to play season two I cannot give this a great rating. It has some high moments but the end was a boring sit-and-wait game of drawing cards and that just isn't fun game design

POTENTIAL MINOR SPOILERS Final Thoughts : This was a fun experience and I'm glad I played it. The story, while cliched and very minimal, was good enough, but not amazing. I think board games still have a ways to go with telling stories (other than Sherlock Holmes, Consulting Detective and the like which are not really board games in my opinion). I enjoyed most of the added mechanics, except I wasn't too enamoured with searches (although they fit perfectly with the story). The levelling up of characters and cards was great. We made quite a few rules mistakes, which was frustrating. The game wasn't complex, but the constantly shifting mechanics, etc meant that rules goofs are more likely to happen. On top of that, we obviously couldn't look ahead online for new rules because of spoilers. The ending was pretty anti-climatic. The main issue I have with this is the same as regular Pandemic : Sometimes the game is too easy/hard based solely on the order the cards come out. Games rarely came down to the wire unfortunately.
