If you're looking for the best bang for the buck, this is the Pandemic version to get. It's gorgeous, it is the base game plus several expansions rolled into one, and it's shockingly inexpensive. If I could own only one version of Pandemic, this would be it. I still like the modern theme of the original, which is why I haven't gotten rid of it, but I can see this one getting more attention in the future.

It is a great twist on the Pandemic Formula, the only thing the original Pandemic has over this is that new people seem to have a harder Time with it.

Whack-a-mole on a board. While the Pandemic series have made a name of itself as lightweight, family-friendly cooperative games, there is very little reason for core gamers to play any game within this series (incl the Legacy variants) given the availability of Spirit Island, which completely outclasses Pandemic in complexity. To be blunt, Pandemic might be even less exciting than physical whack-a-mole
