At the height of its power, the Roman Empire covered a vast amount of territory and brought major advancements in engineering, architecture, science, art, and literature. Corruption and economic crisis has made the empire unstable and paved the way for aggressive barbarian tribes to attack.

I like the game. I don’t like Pandemic, but this theme is a bit better and dice rolling is much needed or else Pandemic games are simply too dry. I would rate the Cthulhu game just above it as the spreading mechanic is packed into a more thematic appearance of the next Boss in Cthulhu which suits that game even better. I would say around a 6 Great time filler and not easy but not a wargame.

maybe had a bad first game, did not like the way the troops moved, maybe it was explained poorly to me but I just couldn't analyze and deduce much. The board state was constantly changing in a completely unpredictable manner. Again, it could possibly be due simply to a poor explanation of the movement mechanism

Genuine sense of achievement when you beat the game. Lovely production and fairly quick turns when everyone knows what they are doing.
