At the height of its power, the Roman Empire covered a vast amount of territory and brought major advancements in engineering, architecture, science, art, and literature. Corruption and economic crisis has made the empire unstable and paved the way for aggressive barbarian tribes to attack.

I like the characters and wargame feel of it. Game is very pretty and doesn't have any expansions which is a huge plus for me.

2022-12: My favorite pandemic game up to this point. They fit a pretty good amount of history in here. I love the feeling of being beset on all sides and not having a hope. The alliances make sense and give you a boost as the game goes on. I also really like the battle system and marching the troops around with me. This one was simply a blast.

One of my favorite iterations of Pandemic. The dice combat is actually of minimal importance.. If your strategy is go around fighting, fighting, fighting, then you will have a difficult time of it. They key is setting up forts and legions to defend (those remove cubes without rolling the dice). This game actually gives you MORE control that vanilla pandemic. If you know you have a problem city, then defend it. You can actually prevent a cube from being placed even if the card is drawn in this game, rather than just having your fingers crossed hoping not to get a bad draw. An ingenious design!
