At the height of its power, the Roman Empire covered a vast amount of territory and brought major advancements in engineering, architecture, science, art, and literature. Corruption and economic crisis has made the empire unstable and paved the way for aggressive barbarian tribes to attack.

Interesting take on the system, certainly better than Cthulu. Not really any room for it in my collection with Rising Tide and Iberia's existence, however.

Mixing up the Pandemic formula in some interesting ways. Dice rolls, legion recruitment, barbarians migrating from their homelands. Not quite as different as Rising Tide, but still very cool.

One of my favorite iterations of Pandemic. The dice combat is actually of minimal importance.. If your strategy is go around fighting, fighting, fighting, then you will have a difficult time of it. They key is setting up forts and legions to defend (those remove cubes without rolling the dice). This game actually gives you MORE control that vanilla pandemic. If you know you have a problem city, then defend it. You can actually prevent a cube from being placed even if the card is drawn in this game, rather than just having your fingers crossed hoping not to get a bad draw. An ingenious design!
