Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.
Pick-up and Deliver
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

The little color packages you have to carry on the backs of the alpacas are very finicky and slide off easily, so it's a little frustrating. The actual gameplay of turning mountains/valleys and scoring flags is fun but also pretty challenging, so we have to be in the right mindset.

A decent 2p game of our collection. It's well produced, I love how the mountains are a layer above, creating a 3D effect, the play time is just right and the board has a good size. It's a bit tedious to move the llamas around with resoures on their back but it's not such a big hassle. The theme definitely adds to the game value in my case. Glad to have it in the collection, we do enjoy it when we play.

Wanted to like this more than I did. So much love has been put into it by the publisher. Assembling the tiles was a royal pain - the two-face stickers don't peel off properly at all. The game is also very fiddly to set up. Fiddly to play too since rotating the hexes is a pain and the boxes fall off the llamas quite easily. The flags don't stand up in the slots either, they fall over all the time. Lots of annoyances here. The idea is great, however! A 2-player, abstract pick-up-and-deliver game with some luck involved in how the demand flags come out randomly. Once you get some paths built in the early game, the tempo should accelerate. Would rate it higher if it wasn't so difficult to interact with physically.
