Oath: Chronicles of Empire and Exile + Sleeves Bundle (Kickstarter Edition)

Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
In storytelling games, players are provided with conceptual, written, or pictorial stimuli which must be incorporated into a story of the players' creation.

Such a unique game. The length is challenging though (our games have been lasting 3.5 hours or so). The game is also obtuse… even when you sort of know how to things, it takes a while longer to understand « why » you do things (and the à while longer to stop making rules mistakes). The rule book seems complete, but it’s terseness makes certain things harder to understand than they might have otherwise been. Finally, all of my games have so far turned into a cycle of stopping player X from winning, then Y, etc, etc. It’s very hard to maintain a winning position. Still, despite the gripes it’s a very interesting unfolding experience that generates memorable stories, epic battles and exciting moments. Definitely doesn’t feel like anything else out there.
Agyar
Rating is based on the preview copy (December 2019). I expect much will change before the game releases, but I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.

We've been playing ROOT before and we were thinking it has too much aggression behind it lol. From Oath experience and fighting starting from 1st round till the bloody end with so many possible table side and our own "hand" development, we really enjoy it with the 4ppl team.
