Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
The simultaneous action selection mechanic lets players secretly choose their actions. After they are revealed, the actions resolve following the rule-set of the game.
Simultaneous Action Selection
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

Played with a friend then ended up getting a copy to play with our 7 year old. Interesting concept and good for a developing mind (or an aging one, I just don't want to admit it).
authentic
This is a great example of a good filler game that could be an 8, but that I will definitely turn down offers to play from some players. If you have a group of people who can quickly reason spatially, it'll be excellent. But the game will be brought down by whichever player takes the longest to decide. I think this is more of a problem in this game than some others, because the rules don't push back against players taking arbitrarily long times, and since you know you'll get exactly two of each number, you can actually really be rewarded for that long thinking time, which encourages players to do it. If every player is on the same wavelength, it's a great game, but one bad apple spoils this bunch.

I really like this game, it's like Tetris (which I love!) but with more fun restrictions! It's fulfilling to be able to pair things up even when they shouldn't be and fill those missing gaps. It's an easy game to learn and quick one to play (unless someone gets really bad AP). You always want to see if you can do better next time. There's a little bit of luck in this game - that is the drawing of card, but you all get the same luck so it's really down to how good your built your play area compared to the others. :)
