This mechanic requires you to place a bid, usually monetary, on items in an auction of goods in order to enhance your position in the game. These goods allow players future actions or improve a position. The auction consists of taking turns placing bids on a given item until one winner is established, allowing the winner to take control of the item being bid on. Usually there is a game rule that helps drop the price of the items being bid on if no players are interested in the item at its current price.
Auction/Bidding
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

I liked the theme and enjoyed the flavor text, but I am still a little uncertain about game play and mechanics. Needs further play.

I really like this game. The struggle to manage your language discs, build your population, bid on the daughters you needs, advance your brain portals, and survive events makes for a tense and fun game experience. I have had games where the cards have made it easy to build my population and the right Daughter cards have come up. I have also had tough games where nothing is easy and I am lucky to add one population each turn. A very fun game system that I have enjoyed solo also. I enjoy it more than Greenland.

Playtester for this game…. Very engrossing, much more flexible than Greenland ("Sister" game), with a lot more variability (due to daughter cards, implementation of many different new mechanics [sexuality, predator/scavengers, vocalization, mental portals {Origins!}, etc, etc.]) Pretty stoked to see the final thing in person. I'm almost a little bummed that there will not be a "SMG Classic" print run on the first ed. (Like Greenland, First Ed., Bios, etc.) with the same iconography/graphics/graphic design, etc. I think the new art will be beautiful, but some of the playfulness of the pared down design is a little unserious for the game matter. We'll see.
