Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

I enjoyed it. I like the mechanism of creating my village and that you have to lock in the "stories" to retain the VP.

An inferior Dice version of Village that is far more constrained. It feels like you are playing Village in a straight-jacket with very few options available to you each turn. The main issue is that you are only drafting enough dice each turn for one action and the dice you take is always obvious, the game pretty much plays itself. The choice of the dice you take is an illusion. It's also a table hog and takes up far more room than Village.

Good dice allocation game that uses some ideas from the excellent Village (namely, time as a resource which eventually kills your workers). There are a few different strategies that offer some replayability (not a lot), although there are some buildings (e.g. Meeting House) that seem better than others. The "story points" on the tree that you have to collect with (wasted) actions before the rats scare them away is a little contrived, but adds an interesting push-your-luck/punishment element to the game.
