Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Very good, above average it's longer than 7 Wonders and shorter than Terraforming Mars. Loses half a point as it doesn't prevent hate drafting with alternating passing directions per era and it's much longer than anticipated ~3hours as a three Some art is amazing, nice components cards are 65*100mm fairly large considering Pictures @ Instagram IG AmassGames or Google AmassGames Met the designer and best of the trilogy Google AmassGames (2,300 board game reviews, podcast, 3000+ Instagram posts and more)

I kinda got suckered into this buy. I'd looked at the game and had history with Insert Fish's other games (Streets and Villagers) and passed on it, but the hype train got me. Moon is a good game, but I'm not sure it's a great game. Its basically a more interesting version of 7 Wonders. Not too much take that, no real futzing with your opponents. It's got a cool box, and somehow both better and worse components.

An okay game. I like the underlying gameplay - the engine building, the drafting, the push-pull with the flags. It's too long at 4p. The drafting takes a while because the turns are sequential and you have to read everything in the hand you're passed (especially the expedition). You're at the mercy of the cards but even more so than normal because of the drafting mechanic. I might see a card I want to play but I can't afford yet. But I also don't want anyone else to play it. So I have to assimilate it for resources (trash it) as denial or suffer someone else getting to it before I see it again. Bleh. Turn order is very rough. Depending on the goals, early turn order can be HUGE since those players can accomplish the goals first just because of turn order. The goals are too powerful. Getting a goal is a tough race AND not only do you get points for it but you also can have a nice power that pushes you forward for the rest of the game. You can't always plan for this because turn order will mess it up. It's just too swingy for my taste. Overall, a fun, enjoyable game, but not my favorite. Overstays its welcome a bit.
