Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

Easy set collection. I like the artwork and the produce. Lots of variability because of the different people, end condition, and produce abilities. The symbols are easy to read. Rules are simple. The abilities are easy to understand. Mechanisms on the cards are mildly thematic. But the artwork helps bring in the theme. Replaces Jaipur?

Weirdly compelling. Things are impossible but you can also do whatever you want. You know? Most of the juice, I think, comes from it being a set-collection game where "sets of 1" are often pretty good. So instead of a predictable arc of building up lots of cards and then cashing out whichever sets have gotten the biggest, there's strong pressure to just awkwardly grab points by whatever means work. Awkward! That's what I want my set collection games to be? I don't know. I like this.

I had high hopes for this game, after reading some reviews that it was a Jaipur killer. But it's just not that exciting - everyone is really just chasing to use the same character cards, and the turns that someone beats you to the one you want is just a waste of a turn really. Shame, because the game is really colourful and pretty.
