Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

So fun and thematic, and super accessible. The signature roll-and-write high player count is great too. Fantastic Rock Manor art and production as always.

I liked this game, but just liked. Not loved. It felt like filling out a spreadsheet, because that's what it is. Weirdly, I think I prefer filling out Yahtzee's spreadsheet instead. I have no attachment to whatever elf-y source material Merchants draws from and it's almost a negative for me. The presentation is totally fine, I just feel like the elf hats got in the way of the fun of filling in cell B3.

Haven't seen contracts/goals shift around to other players in a game before. I like that part, but I don't like the luck in turning over a card that fits exactly what you're looking for (like a route in Ticket to Ride).
