Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

"Players build when it's not their turn, meaning this is a game with little downtime. A combination of dexterity, light strategy and creativity make MegaCity a truly unique experience"

I can't remember the last time I played a dexterity game so intent on keeping you from the fun stuff.

I enjoy this game but there are some issues to be aware of. 1) the dex element of this game involves sliding buildings across the table into the "megacity". If it falls over in transit or during building you lose time. If you dont like dex at all its not going to be for you. 2) the turn actions are abit odd, you will often find yourself trying to build and it'll be your turn again. There is no skip option but the rulebook says "up to 2 actions" plus you could flip a platform as one action so unsure about that. 3) Many of the pieces had minor imperfections that make them harder to stack with each other, got the game new and the pieces seemed used. On the other hand, seeing who can build the highest tower or sturdiest building is fun and the end result feels genuinely accomplishing. Game is simple to play and easy to explain.
