Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Another game that takes a lot of inspiration from Magic the Gathering. This one is better than the rest however because you get to choose which cards you play from your whole deck. This makes it possible to create strategies and also make tactical decisions. Aside from that it doesn't stray too far from the MtG formula. But the spells and creatures are all cool and the game isn't over-complicated by tons of statuses and counters.

The only good door prize I got at a BGG Con: not great, but good. It actually is a complete game. The idea is interesting in that you have a book of spells and you customize it, but a little bit goes a long ways and more trouble than it's worth to me.
