Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Lot of fun back and forth magical creature combat. Love being able to pick from a book of spells instead of drawing cards randomly! Only problem is that it takes a committed partner to learn to play.

It played fine and I have no real complaints. I think to get the most out of it you would need to find a mage you like and customize your spell book and if I'm going to invest that amount of time and energy I would just rather play Legend of the Five Rings or Magic the Gathering. And for quick, fun games, I would much rather play Keyforge.

Interesting attempt to ease & speed the original Arena experience. Unfortunately a failed one for me as it strips Mage Wars of most of its strategic & tactical glory. Why playing this one over Phoenix or better yet M:TG if you get rid of the spatial element? Good to excellent card additions to Arena though.
