Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

[PNP] The game felt too luck based and dragged on for quite a bit. You set up to kill the opponent and then they change the place, after that they do the same but it just comes down to who rolls to kill themselves. Did not enjoy that kind of tension.

Very much enjoy this 2 player game, the setup is important for your strategy early on; it is random with the dice rolls but you can use your movement each turn to try and mitigate that, moving your characters to the desired numbers to hopefully get it rolled more frequently

A fantastic anime-themed 2-player game Jeff brought out once. Would love to play more of this, but not often in a 2-player situation.
