The Campaign/Battle Card Driven mechanic is a relatively recent development in war games that focuses the players' actions on cards they have in their hand. The very basic idea is that performing a single action uses a single card. Games where cards are used to determine the outcome of battles do not use this mechanic.
Campaign / Battle Card Driven
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

I've currently played 1 game of this on Tabletop Simulator and I enjoyed it. It's sitting at 7 right now as we played it competitively with 2 players and I think it will rise when I play it Co-op next week. Right now the game plays like a solid streamlined DnD experience with clear goals and objectives but the way you succeed can absolutely differ each game. I Would recommend playing it if you get the chance.

Check out the campaign and watch the youtube videos before taking any advice from here. I see no 10 ratings, so the bash about the dev self rating is irrelevant. If the dev did self rate, that's foolish on his part. He's also new to the business, so he will make mistakes. A lot of people do that when they get excited about something. I'm not going to avoid a game because of a rookie mistake by the dev. Especially when it doesn't affect the game. I'm backing it because it looks like a game I will love playing solo, and with my group. There is too little here to get a feeling for the game from. At the risk of being redundant, I say again, actually check it out before taking any advice from here. Note I have not rated the game. I don't own it.

Played once and came to conclusion that “house rules” are needed in several aspects of the game. It’s not bad but head scratching at times. There was some potential but creator(s) didn’t correct some obvious shortcomings.
