Lanterns Dice: Lights in the Sky
30m - 45m
2 - 4 Players
Ages 10+
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.

Played Colin's copy 2 handed - it's a roll and write so what's not to like! After second play you realise there is more subtle strategy than you think

This really feels like a cheap knock-off that was just cobbled together in order to cash in on the roll-and-write craze. It has the same theming and a tiny bit of similarity in mechanisms, but this lacked any of the enjoyable punch you get from the regular tile-laying game. I suppose it's kind of cool that they added actual tiles for special scoring, instead of having players write more stuff on their boards, but otherwise this game was a complete pile of blandness. There is literally never a time when I would ever want to play this roll-and-write over the original game, and I wouldn't recommend this too anyone either. It was just an unnecessary cash-grab.

Thought this game was a bust and was about to cull it out. My wife said to hold off because she "thought something was there". She saves the day AGAIN! On second and third play, this game is absolutely charming! Love the dice allocation mechanism!
