Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.
Tile Placement

Definitely not a multiplayer solitaire game! ++ I really love the market simulation of supply and demand, using the cardboard "computers" that work really well. ++ The action selection system is simple but works really great here, as again, when choosing an action, you have to forfeit another potential action so you must plan carefully your actions as the round progress and while the board state constantly shift around. ++ The replayability is very good as the direction a game will take really depends on players, their starting setup (guild choice and position on their board) and obviously their action during the game. The variability though seems a bit limited (see negative comments), although this is not necessarily needed to have a good replayability. ++ Overall, the components are of great quality: the Re-Wood components have a really nice look and feel to them, the cards are of great quality, the cardboard are of great quality and are thick enough, and the cardboard stand work really great (after a little bit of sanding to make them looser) and the metal coins (add-on) are really nice in such a game where the money is really important. ++ The game plays really well at all player count IMO: at only 2-players, the game is really more tight as Guilds are split up between the players without any overlap (also you only have one opponent to closely monitor sot he game have a bit more control as it's easier to predict what will happen between your turns and thus to see potential opportunities), and the addition of the Event cards really liven up the game, while keeping the addition simple. Also, it's Event done well, where you see the Event at the start of a round and have all the round to react to it, because it will only trigger at the end of the round. At 3 and 4-players, there is some overlap between the owners of the Guilds, thus there is a bit less control, and players really need to adapt as the game unfold, but the game is way more dynamic and will reward the players that can spot and anticipate opportunities to come, even though they are less clear. Finally, at 2 and 3-players, there are 6 rounds instead of just 5 rounds like in a 4-player game, which to me feels more a bit more satisfying, as you play 30 actions instead of 25. NEGATIVE POINTS: -- The first impression of the game can be difficult to properly assess as the game as a lot going on, and have a lot of small subtils and intricate interactions between the players' actions and the everchanging game state, so this is definitely a game that need to be player several time to understand all these and to appreciate the game at it's just value. -- Some players may not like not knowing exactly what their actions will have as consequences (like in how many cards the prices will changed), but CGE have release a small web-based "app" to do the work of the market stand and having the possibility to know when prices will changed. There are also some added perks of this "app" like automatic income calculator, if you are someone that struggles with this. -- The variability (not the replayability) is a bit limited to the guild choice and their position on the players' boards, and to the order the tiles will come up. It would be nice to have variable Patrician Scoring, different St-Barbara tiles, and maybe other stuff. These could really be nice to have in a future expansion. -- I would have prefer to have a proper 4-fold game board instead of a jigsaw puzzle types game boards and side board to speed up the setup. An insert would have been also very nice. -- It take a bit longer than I like to setup and tear down the game, as you have to organize everything back in sequential order, different stacks, etc. -- The teach is also a bit longer than I like, usually taking around 30 minutes for new players, as there are a lot to take in at first, but after that, everything make sense is is easy to remember. :arrowE: OTHER GAME INFO: Game Weight = 3.3/5 Release Date = 2023 Number of Player = 2-4 2-player length = 90 min. X-player length = 120 min. Player Count Preference = Best at 2, great at 3 and 4!:thumbsdown: NOTE: This game is partially SLEEVED (only the players' action selection cards), because they are always handled and they are not are played all the time equally. Played the game at a convention with one of the designers Petr. Really interesting euro with a surprising amount of interaction, an innovative population/resource value system, and a unique graphical style. The theme is actually pretty strong in this one, I've enjoyed my play a ton!

After 3 plays, I am still not sure if this is a great game or not, but I continue to be fascinated by the puzzle it presents and am curious to explore and understand it better. The different guilds and the way people at the table play them ensures a very different economy (meta) in every game. The production is top-notch in every way and makes me want to spend more time with it! Pain Points: The opaqueness of how everything affects each other might be a stumbling block for many and might make the game seem "random" which would be inaccurate. I think if the game did a better job of making the economy just a little more transparent (the app helps a bit), it would go a long way in making players feel in control and make choices more strategically.
