Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

This was much better than I expected, especially coming from Wizkids. The hero players are essentially playing a modified Pandemic, while the villain player is playing a modified Fury of Dracula. It comes together quite well, and I like the overall pace of the game. If the heroes move quickly enough, they can ensure a victory. The longer they take, however, the easier it is for Darkseid to come out on top. I love that this game is so definitive with the various actions, except for when the villain draws Crisis Cards and the heroes take a chance on pushing their luck with resolving crises. This is just a really solid 1 vs all game, which is surprising considering it's from Wizkids. Apparently Andrew Parks is the one designer that can make good quality games for them.

This is a very clean, quality design. Takes the Batman Strategy Game and sends it to the next level. Of course, I must be Darkseid!

One of my favorite, feels like a combination of Scotland Yard (from Darkseid's POV) and Pandemic (from Heroes POV.) Vastly underrated in my opinion. Clever bluffing by Darkseid, playing the right power up card by hero, devastating actions. Perhaps doesn't scale the best, two heroes vs four heroes seems like a great drop in difficulty.
