Quite a unique human emotions theme for what would otherwise be an abstract efficiency matching game with a common objectives market where you acquire victory points on your path to emotional enlightenment. Not a fan of the boring, repeating artwork or the drab color palette chosen to represent the five emotions of happiness, love, sadness, fear and anger. In particular the blue for sadness and black for fear are way too similar to distinguish on the modualr board. White doesn't make me think of love, perhaps green for envy would've been a better choice so red could be reserved for love. A parking ticket is the best they could do for anger? The art for fear isn't scary. The player colors too are uninspired, turqoiuse is too similar to the background color and black and white tokens get confusing because these are also used for the emotions... though the black tile is actually grey. Major missed opportunity to provide individual shaped player scoring bags or shields with brain artwork to represent your memory bank where you could obscure your enlightenment points so other players can't readily see your experience stack since knowing when to end the game is half the fun. I wish the common end game goals were more varied, why weren't these double-sided? There could be a diagonal tic-tac-toe goal, a Morse code dot dash dot goal, a goal with the fewest tiles in one of the four sectors, one for stacking memories, etc. Not sure why the player aid and bonuses are on opposite sides of the player boards that are continually covered with your tokens so you can never reference the turn order during play?? Simply put that on a player aid card next time AEG. It's important because the first three steps in turn order are move followed by move and then move again. These really need to be explained clearly how these movements differ. The tokens used to represent emotions should've been more thematic as opposed to just different colors, perhaps emojis or a heart-shaped token for love, a spider or snake for fear, a smile or $ for happiness, an exclamation for anger and a tear drop for sadness. The whole production seems thoroughly underconsidered. In the end there's a neat game here with a novel theme that could've been even more enjoyable had it been better implemented. Under $20 it's worth owning if you love tactical abstracts, but the memories you'll make playing this game are mostly forgettable if you do not.
