Hegemony: Lead Your Class to Victory (Standard Edition)
90m - 180m
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.
Variable Player Powers
Voting allows players to influence the outcome of certain events within the game. The vote may be all or nothing, choosing a target for an effect, or to determine the results of certain situations. Players’ votes may not have equal weight, and blocking a player from voting can be a valid tactic.

2/12/2024 - Score is based on 3/5th's of a game (playing as Middle vs. Working vs. Caps), one 2p game (playing as Working Class vs. Capitalists [Working Class just can't catch a brake : )], and finally, one complete game at 4p paying as the State (shout out to Mikey Eyez for hosting). God-Tier!!! => { Hegemony LYCTV, Brass(either), FCM, Pax Renn. 2ed, TI 4ED, Root }. Damn, the game devs at Hegemonic Games just put a stomping on EA Sports(hopefully for permz. #WishfulThinking) cuz if it's in the game, it's in the game baby! The different possible combinations for the draw decks for each faction really are key to this game's fun factor and replayability, in addition to the Event deck for the State. There's just enough randomness preventing the game from becoming an all-out simulation, but the card effects are so well thought out from a thematic and mathematical/economic perspective, that the scores are generally tight when the game is done (in my experience). The randomness in the decks and World Events must be in there cuz just like "IRL", and Forest Gump chocolates, you just never know whatcha gonna get! (i.e 2020-2022). I really believe that this game must be played at least 4 times to really click because there are some rules that are very easy to forget which can be critical to the balancing of the factions and consequently, a proper representation of the gameplay. Playing with correct rules can really be the swing-vote as to whether or not one might enjoy this game or not. Speaking of rules, although I think the official rules and player-aids are at least "good", more emphasis on edge case scoring such as the State gaining at most 1VP when another faction buys education and/or health from them could be visually communicated better in the iconography for that tile that goes in the state goods department on the main board. On the whole, I'm just nitpicking. Don't know what else to say, so Imma rip-off The Pixies like KC (R.I.P): "It's Educational! ED-JU-KAY-SHAAAAH-NAAAAAHL!" ("UMass", Trompe Le Monde, 4AD yada yada).

Super asymmetrical and not well balanced either. You urgently need a well-rehearsed players (!) Newcomers are otherwise completely lost. Otherwise you waste 3 hours, have no chance .... Nice game nights look different. Only makes sense with 4 people and then it takes very, very long. Any other constellation shows the weaknesses of this game extremely! In terms of game duration, required number of players and their familiarity, there are far better and more entertaining 4-person games.

Hegemony: Lead Your Class to Victory” immerses players in a complex socio-economic landscape, where they embody one of four classes - the Working Class, the Capitalist Class, the Middle Class, or the State - in a fictional, politically turbulent nation. Each class has distinct goals and strategies, with the Working Class striving for better wages and social reforms, the Capitalists focusing on profit maximization, the Middle Class balancing between labor and capital, and the State aiming to maintain balance and fiscal health. The game’s intricacies shine in higher player counts, where the interaction between these classes becomes more pronounced. Players appreciate the thematic depth and find that each action taken in the game resonates with real-world economic and political scenarios, despite the initial complexity and learning curve. “Hegemony” features gameplay with a political track and card-driven mechanics, requiring players to adapt to changing circumstances and opponents’ actions. The card-driven nature introduces randomness, deemed challenging and engaging by players. The game’s design integrates real-world issues, such as taxation and labor markets, offering both strategic depth and insights into socio-economic principles like Social-Democracy and Globalism. “Hegemony” is praised for delivering a fun, engaging, and intellectually stimulating experience, despite criticisms about class balance and randomness impact. Its design effectively captures the essence of real-world politics and economics, making it a standout choice for players seeking a thought-provoking board game. With rich thematic elements and strategic depth, “Hegemony” promises a unique gaming experience, encouraging players to explore diverse strategies and perspectives in their quest for class victory.
