This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

A fun, although basic, worker placement game you'll probably only like if you're into Harry Potter (which we are). The theme comes through well, I like how each worker's skills can be upgraded, and adding the crystals to the beakers (representing points) is strangely satisfying. So we do enjoy this game. It's just that if you're not into Harry Potter, there are better worker placement games out there.

Solid, though not pretty, light worker placement game. Theme is there...ish but relies on players paying attention to task names and bringing something with them. I enjoy the game, but feel like there was something left on the table here graphically that would have escalated the game some and added a thematic connection.

This is a good game, but there is room for improvement with clarity of some of the rules. The instruction booklet could have been twice as long. We had to make some assumptions on what was or wasn’t reasonable for some plays. The game is well made, and has some clever and beautiful pieces. Everything feels sturdy and durable, and fits well within the box. The time given on the box was wildly inaccurate for our group. We had 4 players - 2 who had played before and 2 who hadn’t - and it took us 3 hours and 50 minutes. Overall we liked this game, but it is one we’ll have to plan ahead for, since it is such a time commitment.
