Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

Two player tug-of war style game with hero drafting. Simple structure, but enough phases and keywords to cause constant manual reference- too much for a 30 minute game. Fighting felt more mathematical than combative, as defensive options were almost non-existent. A solid life-style game but does not suit for sporadic casual play.

I don't want to be too effusive in my praise, because I've only played this game once so far, but I absolutely loved my first play and it has me more excited than even Crystal Clans, the last game I was crushing on hard.

Locations with Victory Points. Characters on locations. Characters have power stats. Characters can be moved to different locations. Characters are selected and come with their own decks that are put together at the start of the game. Some cards are stronger than others, the strongest are only a few...my god. This is literally Smash Up. But with a weaker theme and way less identification potential. Unfortunately a pass.
