In Friday the 13th: Horror at Camp Crystal Lake, an anxiety-driven, press-your-luck horror game, players take on the roles of cliché camp counselors like the stereotypical Nerd, the Partier, the Nice Guy, the Final Girl, the Diva, and the Jock as they rely on chance and strategy to survive five nights being terrorized by blood-thirsty Jason. Coveted tools of survival are just within your reach to randomly draw from a camp bag: cast iron pans, gasoline, cleavers, flashlights and more. Collect them to make various combinations for points and use additional fear cards for ways to escape his attacks.
You have only strategy and supplies to keep you alive, but the odds of returning safely to the camp get slimmer with every turn! Steal supplies from your friends, take them with you to the cabin, or keep what you find and wait out the nights to be the last one standing!

I pre-ordered this but am thinking about canceling due to my disappointment. If you read the rule book that is available on the publisher's website, this game is simply a gambling, test-your-luck genre with Jason slapped on the front cover. I suppose the disappointment is my fault as I was expecting something similar to "Camp Grizzly". If you're fine with the loose Jason theme and are in it for the core play, I'd say buy. However, if you're like me and want something a little more frightening, inclusive, and actually like the movies, I would NOT buy.

5/24/20 Woohoo, first to comment! Pre-ordered on GN. List price was $27 but I had a $10 credit so it cost me $17. Expected release date is late July. Update: this game is the exact same game as the Snow White Gemstone Mining game. I didn't think that different games would be allowed to have the exact same mechanics or card abilities, but here we are. I guess the only thing you can trademark is the title? That said, I like this theme better, but the gemstone mining game has nicer components and looks nicer overall. Overall, I'm happy I got it because I love the gemstone mining game and I got this for much cheaper.

A fun, solid, and mean little press your luck game that is also engaging and moves fast enough. This is yet another reimplementation of Quartz and it will come down to which theme your find more engaging. At least in this game, the backstabbing and high interaction feel a bit more at home with the thematic setting
